Telcordia Support Processes for CPE Suppliers

Certification of product capabilities is a Telcordia service offered to ISDN Equipment Manufacturers. Products tested by Telcordia and found to conform with requirements in all tests performed are eligible to display Telcordia Certification Mark, subject to the terms and conditions in document SR-3858, "General Guidelines for Telcordia Certification".

The following two documents describe the certification process in greater detail for ISDN CPE products.

SR-3878, "Requirements for Certification Testing of ISDN Basic Access CPE", enumerates requirements for Telcordia certification of National ISDN-1 compatible CPE and represents the first phase of ISDN CPE certification, covering basic call control procedures.

SR- 3859, "Certification of Physical Layer ISDN Basic Access NT and LT Equipment", defines a set of physical layer tests for loop transmission products and subsystems that provide ISDN Basic Access Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) transceiver functionality.

All documents may be ordered from Telcordia at 1-800-521-2673 (or 1-732-699- 5800 from outside the U.S.) or click here to order on line.

National ISDN Ordering Codes, or IOCs, have been adopted by the Regional Bell Operating Companies to facilitate ISDN ordering and line provisioning.

  • Generic IOC's, or ISDN Capability Packages, reflect a standard set of commonly used interface configurations for an ISDN Basic Rate Interface.

  • Non-Generic IOC's may be registered through Telcordia for those customer premise equipment manufacturers whose equipment may not comply with a Generic IOC.

Visit the National ISDN Ordering Codes site for a detailed discussion of IOCs and the CPE registration process and the National ISDN Registry of Customer Equipment site for a list of equipment models that have enrolled in the NIUF-supported registration process provided by Telcordia.
