The National ISDN Council (NIC) was formed in the early 1990's as an industry group dedicated to deployment of ISDN services. The NIC successfully completed its mission; ISDN is now a mature, widely available service.

Some NIC accomplishments are highlighted below.

• The NIC published generic requirements so a wide range of features would operate consistently.
• The NIC published Customer Premises Equipment guidelines so that end-users could obtain ISDN CPE from a variety of suppliers.
• The NIC helped define ISDN Ordering Codes which simplified the ISDN service activation process for both end-users and service providers.

The National ISDN Council web site serves as a repository of our ISDN work. However, no new information is being added to this site.
